Dental crowns

Restore broken or damaged teeth
with crowns that feel like your own

What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is a custom made tooth-shaped cap that restores a damaged, weak, broken, or severely decayed tooth. Dental crowns help rebuild the tooth's strength, shape, size, and natural appearance while protecting it from further damage. They are commonly recommended after a root canal, to restore a tooth with a large cavity, repair a cracked tooth, or complete a dental implant.

At our Newark, NJ dental office, we provide high quality porcelain and zirconia dental crowns that are carefully matched to the color of your natural teeth for a beautiful, seamless smile. Whether you need to restore a damaged tooth or improve your smile, a custom dental crown offers a durable, natural-looking solution.

With proper oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, your dental crown can last for many years, allowing you to eat comfortably, speak clearly, and smile with confidence.

FAQ

Is getting a dental crown painful?

No, getting a crown is usually not painful. At our dental office we use local anesthesia to keep you completely comfortable during the procedure. You may feel slight sensitivity after the appointment, but it typically goes away within a few days.

How long does a dental crown last?

A well-made crown can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years or even longer with proper care, especially with good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups. We use high quality materials like porcelain crowns that are built to last.

What's the difference between a dental filling and a dental crown?

A filling repairs a small area of tooth decay, while a dental crown covers the entire tooth to restore its shape and strength, especially when a tooth is severely damaged or cracked. Crowns are also often done after root canals or for teeth with large cavities that can’t be fixed with just a filling.

Can I eat normally with a dental crown?

Yes! Once your permanent crown is in place, you can eat most of your favorite foods without worry. Crowns are designed to be strong and feel just like natural teeth. We do recommend avoiding very sticky or hard foods to help extend your crown’s durability.
